DESCRIPTION
Want your student to take 7th or even 8th grade math as a 6th grader? This class will help them prepare for the middle school math placement test by reviewing fifth grade math concepts and previewing sixth grade math, which make up 70% and 30% of the test, respectively. Small-group classes will include explanations of concepts, time to do practice problems/practice tests, and an environment for students to ask individualized questions.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Review of some 5th grade topics:
- order of operations, evaluating expressions
- place value, decimals, word problems with money
- multiplying/dividing 2 or 3-digit numbers
- adding/subtracting fractions, least common denominators
- comparing and converting units
Preview of some 6th grade topics:
- ratios, unit rates, unit price
- operations with fractions and decimals
- factors, GCF, and LCM
- rational numbers and the coordinate plane
- exponents
- variable expressions, equations, and inequalities
WHO THIS COURSE IS FOR
5th grader
REQUIREMENTS
Students need to mastering addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, addition, subtraction, and multiplication of fractions, decimals, mixed numbers and basic Pre-Algebra skills
