DESCRIPTION

The virtual and interactive English course is based on state standards, being in sync with your child's school curriculum so they can get the support to catch up and/or get ahead. Live lessons are taught via Zoom in which students read stories and literature, as well as more complex texts that provide facts and background knowledge in areas such as science and social sudies. Students will be challenged and asked questions that push them to refer back to what they've read. In addition, weekly "Diagnostic" problems using the online learning platform, IXL, pin point student levels of understanding so the instructor can recommend tailored practice problems. Overall, in-class instruction focuses on critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills required in school, career and life.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Students can expect to learn Common Core English Language Arts.Topics learned in this course are supplemental to what students may be learning in school. Students will also have the chance to work on assigned school work, one-on-one with the instructor.

ABOUT INSTRUCTOR

Elizabeth has 7+ years of experience teaching in physical and virtual classrooms and holds state certifications in teaching Core Subjects, English as a Second Language, and Special Education.
She aims to leverage her passion for education to promote a culture of compassion and rigor within and beyond the academic setting.
